I don't think those who preach the Prosperity version of the Bible have ever really read it. Joel O. you forgot to read the Gospels of Jesus Christ who was born of a virgin, in a manger, poor, from podunk village, mocked, spat on, beaten, nailed to a tree next to thieves. murdered. Jesus said take up your cross and follow Me. He who loses his life finds it! See video Stop sending checks to Joel Osteen.
From JS - Podunk village?! Nazareth had some great foam parties and bustling rave scene during the first century!

From TV - more growth during pain, God talks to me when I am hurting and praying, when things are going along okay i tend to drift and God has to pull me back, right now I am in pain and praising God and it has been amazing, i still hurt but there is a comfort there knowing he is with me

This is my story of how Jesus continues to rescue me from myself. I am learning to put Him first. If you have found this blog, we are some how connected and it is my prayer it points you to Him. Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

Prosperity Christianity Junk
If you think Christianity is about making you a nice guy or good guy then your sick. The truth makes you good not nice because speaking the truth hurts most of the time. Oh and this Prosperity Christianity thing is the devils way of taking you and me out of the battle stripping us of our passion to fight and defend. Here don't listen to me see what Pastor Mark Driscoll says! How pastors should be preaching! Enjoy the expresso shot. Click Here For Short Video
FaceBook Post
From DZ - Hey MP -Thanks for the post. After watching the video, it seems to me that Joel gets some his ideas about victory launched in the right direction, but they aren't targeted, nor refined enough. By trusting Jesus through his grace, he gives us the power over sin through his Spirit. We are new creatures and given a new life (Colossians 3 and Ephesians 4)with the ability to say no to sin because he conquered it through the resurrection. It seems to me this is where Joel's messages need to be strengthened. He needs to bring in more Christ. Another thing that it seems is missing is the idea of God putting trials in our path to test our faith to produce endurance that will lead us to be perfect and complete lacking in nothing. (James 1:2-4) I have yet to find God saying to us in the Bible that he wants to be comfortable, rather he wants us to be holy. That is he wants us to be perfect and complete ... and he will use any means necessary to make that a reality. Blessings.

Don't Go To Church
"If you want your life to go well stay away from Jesus." John Piper, Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Good reason to not go to church or believe. My life has gone to well. FaceBook Status Post
From AS - Yes, but in context this could mean that life is easier in some ways for nonbelievers because they never have to question their choices or examine where their free will leads them astray.

My Reply - My experiences tells me we can get away from not believing or from not questioning our own wills until the big Bang happens in our lives. The bang that signals "i am not really in control after all". When that happens we two methods of living 1. numb up, get addicted drugs, alcohol, sex, sports, tv, shopping etc (takes our mind off of reality and ourselves) 2. Pray to God to save us from destructive(evil) self for Him to open our hearts to understand pain is part of life and is good for our souls growth and that He is in control. For if you know pain, you surely know love. You cannot really love in choice number 1.

From AS - I totally agree that you are closed off from loving fully until you relinquish your false sense of control. All I was really saying is that "stay away from Jesus" is kind of a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that believers know is the way nonbelivers cruise through life thinking of no one but themselves -- they can define their life according to their own precepts and stay away from the things that push them into the pain of self reflection. Narcissists are all about this concept.

My Reply -Do you think they will make a pill for Narcissism? How would it work? Remove our selfishness!! Maybe then we could put it in the drinking water and change the whole world!

Rezlife Sermon Series - Under the Influence
Great message from Jason Gant youth minister at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Jason's message talks about our influencer's in our daily lives and it doesn't stop after we are teenagers. Some of the same people have hold over our actions throughout our lives. Take a few minutes and listen to Jason's word.

Working Out for God
In church this past Sunday I had revelation about my spiritual life and practice. As a competitive athlete I am very disciplined and committed to keeping myself physically fit by training at least 15 hours a week. I also do certain workouts to better and maintain my level of competitiveness.
Then it came to me that I should look at my spiritual life in the same manor. I must work my spiritual fitness in the same manor. Ah Ha. Here is my workout schedule.
Daily Devotional readings
Reading of the bible (i am in the middle of Matthew)
Listen to Pod casts of different Pastors around the country (bell, boyd, stanley)
Praying myself and with the kids
Sharing my path and experiences of my Christian life with my friends.
Volunteering and Mentoring with the High School Youth Group Rezlife
Spending Time with fellow Christians
Writing about my relation with my Lord
Sunday Service 5pm
Wow that felt good. I am pleased with work out and I feel closer and more fit in my spiritual then I have ever in my life. Its A Good Life.

Volunteered in the am for the Jackson County Triathlon and it was a good to see friends and make a new one, connect with a team mate, see pettiness, see families being there to support one another.
Afternoon Ride with a friend to just hang out in the outside! Still cannot believe the beauty of every ride.
Church: What an unbelievable place, the energy, the God thing just fills the tank up. The before and after effect on my kids is way too cool. If I could prove to you the power of God in a real life example, I would show you the joy and energy that comes out of them after Sunday school.
Evening: I recently got my family photos back from a friend that stored them during the divorce. I pulled out some pictures of my ex wife Julie and I on our honeymoon to Hawaii. Memories flooded in, raw pain of the failure of my marriage, shed a few tears. Trust me divorce hurts like you have no idea, But like any heart break, loss or tragedy there are gifts in it. More later.
